I have an extensive
collection of the original artwork of Angus McBride. The pieces range from
the early '80s to currently produced work. I currently conceive and design
books for Concord Publications ('Ancient Celts', 'Barbarians', 'Ancient
Armies' and the coming 'Age of the Crusades'), which feature the artwork
of Mr. McBride, and for several years, there were various times that I
acted as a business agent for Angus in North America.
For more than
fifteen years I have built my own collection and have been a sort of clearing-house
for American collectors, brokering trades and deals between them. McBride
collectors tend to be a passionate lot. As art is such a subjective thing,
I can say that I have constantly found great satisfaction in seeing two
McBride collectors become even happier than they were the day before a
trade took place.
There are several serious collectors of McBride's artwork here in California.
There are seven collectors in northern California and one collector in
southern California who account for more than 380 of McBride's original
pieces (we believe it is most of his best work). And of the more than 80
pieces that McBride has produced for Concord Publications, only 1 of those
paintings does not hang on a wall in California. We tend to be most interested
in his historical subjects, but of the eight collectors mentioned, five
of them own various fantasy/Middle Earth paintings by McBride which were
produced for I.C.E. game company.
Use of all painting images at this website are compliments of Concord Publications who are the copyright holders.
